PERSONAL CORE VALUES

PERSONAL CORE VALUES * I choose to speak words that bring life and never listen to someone speak negatively about someone else. * I choose to take 100% responsibility for my attitudes and actions (never blaming others for how I feel or what’s wrong in my life). * I choose to not agree with lies about my own life or anyone I know. * I choose to be teachable, open to hearing from God in everyone I meet. * I choose to be quick to hear and slow to speak. * I choose to leave people and places better than when I showed up. * I choose to live a life of risk, not playing it safe. * I choose to live life with an abundance mentality not a poverty mentality. * I choose to live life with great optimism and hope for the future (the best days are yet to come). * I choose to enjoy the journey and reflect often about it. * I choose to live my life with a legacy mindset, not an instant gratification mindset. * I choose to make decisions by what God says, not what my bank account says. * I choose to do little things in great ways. * I choose to be a faithful steward of what God gives me (people, time, money, and resources). * I choose to make my family my top priority in life. * I choose to look for how I can add value to everyone in my circle of influence. * I choose to have no greater joy than to see my children walking in...
5 CORE VALUES OF LEADERSHIP

5 CORE VALUES OF LEADERSHIP

5 CORE VALUES OF LEADERSHIP These aren’t the only values we have for leaders in Isla Vista Church, but these are a handful that we talked about at our last leadership meeting: (1) We live from the Father’s love, not for the love of others. The blood of Jesus speaks louder than all our mistakes and...

5 THINGS I’M ASKING MY CHILDREN

5 THINGS I’M ASKING MY CHILDREN These aren’t the only things I’m asking my children, but they are a few things that I find myself asking them more often these days: (1) Do you know your my boy? My champion? My warrior?  (Identity is massive and I speak it often over all my kids)   (2) Help me to understand why you did __________ to your brother / sister? (I’ve a core value of always seeking to understand not be understood)   (3) Did you have any dreams? Tell me about them. (I want to hear if God is saying anything to my children and I want them to grow a value being open to hearing God while they are sleeping)   (4) What are you reading in the Bible these days? Ideally our older children start each day by reading it (this question is probably only asked weekly as I don’t want to put pressure on them)   (5) What’s your rose & what’s your thorn today? (a highlight & something that was challenging or hard, usually happens around the dinner...
